Reaching Out, Speaking Out

When the telegraph first replaced pigeons and trains sped past horses, a new word emerged to describe the increased pace of life: licketysplit, which means "at full speed." Now as the information age accelerates and reaches all corners of the earth, we need a new word to reflect more than just the exponentially rapid pace of change but a vision to make the right changes happen. That word is ziggitysplit.
Reflecting that effort, this blog aims to address change on multiple levels -- personal, local community, & the partisan gridlock standing in the way of common sense progress.
Implicit here is the largely positive role of technological advancement pioneered by the titans of our time: Microsoft, Google, IBM, Facebook, Amgen, and others. Together we have the greatest ever opportunity to bring about change that can make lasting differences in the quality of life for people rich and poor.
In essence, ziggitysplit means speaking out and reaching out.
Focused on three core values, ziggitysplit:
(1) Reflects an outspoken style -- standing by your word without undue fear of hierarchies
(2) Forges diplomacy and consensus building -- listening fully to others
(3) Aims to combat indifference and complacency
Ziggitysplit resides in a sweet spot connecting two poles:
(1) Making good decisions and pushing forward.
(2) Listening fully, seeking feedback, and collaborating fully.
I don't presume to yet have all the pieces that make up ziggitysplit. This blog is more about the journey of taking on big goals and working creatively with others to achieve them.
And in the best tradition of blogging, this one is also about having fun with writing, pictures, videos, and the like. (Not everything here is meant to be taken seriously.)
Okay, a little about me. I'm a bicycle racer. I am an IT technical content manager (msft) and father of two little girls.
